Twenty seven thousand men and women belong to Sertoma
International, a volunteer civic service organization that spans
the United States, Canada and Mexico. Each year, Sertoma Clubs
raise and return more than 20 million for community projects. It
includes the Sertoma Foundation that raises, invests and
distributes funds to support the approved charitable programs of
Sertoma International.
Camp Sertoma first met in 1999 and was one of the largest clubs
ever started. It is a non-traditional club that meets 4 times a
year and is totally focused on Camp Sertoma. In May, 2000, Camp
Confidence Sertoma established and endorsed the Jon
Haapajoki Camp Confidence Sertoma Memorial Fund with the goal of
funding Camp Sertoma in perpetuity. Their goal was to raise
$250,000 by May of 2001.
At the present time camperships cost $300 per camper, but are
offered to the camper at $50.00 however, nobody will be turned
away for financial reasons. Individual and corporate donations are
welcome. Camp Sertoma needs members who are deaf and hard of
hearing, or are connected in some way with the deaf and hard of
hearing community. If you wish to learn more about our local
